This page explains the cookies and browser storage Pivot Bureau uses. The short version: we use almost none. We do not use tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, and there is no consent banner because nothing we set requires consent under the UK PECR rules. If anything here is unclear, email info@pivotbureau.com.
1. What we set
- Cloudflare essential cookies (
__cf_bm,cf_clearance) — set by our CDN and security layer to tell humans from bots and prevent abuse. Strictly necessary; they expire automatically (typically 30 minutes to 30 days). - localStorage — our chat widget remembers your conversation for up to 7 days so it picks up where you left off. This stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
- sessionStorage — remembers whether you dismissed the chat auto-prompt during the current browser session.
2. What we do NOT set
- No Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising or profiling trackers.
- No third-party marketing or retargeting cookies.
- No cross-site tracking of any kind.
Because everything we set is either strictly necessary or stored only in your own browser, we don't show a cookie consent banner — under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), consent isn't required for these categories.
3. Third parties
The only third party that sets anything is Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider, via the essential cookies above. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. Payment pages are hosted by Stripe, which sets its own strictly-necessary cookies only when you're on a checkout page.
4. How to control cookies
You can clear or block any of the above at any time by clearing your browser's site data or adjusting your browser's cookie settings. Because we set no non-essential cookies, blocking them won't break the site — at most, the chat widget will forget your previous conversation.
5. More detail
Cookies sit alongside the wider picture of how we handle data. For what personal data we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR, see our Privacy Policy. Our full Terms are also available.
6. Changes to this policy
If we change what we set, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Given we use no tracking, changes are expected to be rare.
